This finishathon thing is an awesome idea, by the way; I've loved participating in it all three years I've done it, because it makes me get over the "ugh, but this is a boring/difficult part to write" story blockages and forge ahead

It arose because I'd found that being on livejournal and participating in ficathons really increased the amount of fic I wrote, but also frustrated me, because I was neglecting my own stories. So I wished that someone could somehow combine the two -- and then I figured out how, and the finish-a-thon was born. 8-)
