I've put all the results into a spreadsheet (only for the poll open to all - I wasn't quite sad enough to analyse both polls). A total of 865 votes were cast for stories by 21 entrants, so that each entrant had on average about 40 votes spread over their stories. The number of votes is obviously likely to be heavily inflenced by the popularity of the fandoms in which people are writing. When I voted myself, I passed over about half a dozen writers because all their entries were for fandoms with which I am unfamiliar.

The object of the exercise was to see whether it was an advantage for a writer to have a name occurring early in the alphabet. The results suggest that it was. All of the first four writers in the list received more than 50 votes for their bunnies, while none of the last eight received more than 40. Maybe if the exercise is repeated next year the writers should be listed in reverse alphabetical order to even things out a bit?

If anyone would like a copy of the spreadsheet, then please let me know.
