Although there's no way I'm going to finish, I am going to continue working on it this week--I finally broke through my mental block on the opening scene, so it's actually hitting the page now. :)

I'm working on it, but real life issues are really getting in the way, and I really doubt I'll be able to finish it in time.

While my vote indicates that I will not make it, I actually haven't given up yet. I'm frustrated that so many things came up to derail me from what I thought would be plain sailing -- but after all, there is still a week left. ;-) I'm going to keep pushing and see what I can produce between now and then!

I don't think I'm going to get as far in the story as I'd planned. I've hit a good stopping point, though, so I may declare it done and write the rest later, as the next story in the series.

I completely overburdened myself with other projects over this period, and accidentally triggered my anxiety disorder because of it, so I'm going to at least make progress and call it good.

I'm going to get this done, even if I'm late. It might stay un-beta'd, but I didn't promise a finished story, only progress. (And I don't like giving my beta stuff in parts, so plot holes can be fixed in edits.)

Hey, I just realized I can't figure out what day my stuff is due.

10 am AEST on Aug 14 is, in fact, 12 midnight GMT on Aug 14, and my time zone, EST, would have it 7 pm Aug 13. But your FAQ says 12 midnight Aug *13*. Which would mean my fic is due 7 pm Aug 12. Is this one of those confusion about which day midnight belongs to things?

If the fics are due at *your* 10 am Aug 14 no matter where the writers live, then they're due Aug 14 at midnight GMT, and in America, Aug 13, at 3 PM PST through 7 PM EST. Midnight is the first moment of a new day.

Yes, this appears to be a difference in dialect: I've never come across the idiom that midnight is the beginning of the day, it's always been the last moment of the old day.
But I guess that also depends on whether you think of it as 0:00 or as 24:00...

So, yes, to clarify, fics are due at *my* 10am August 14 no matter where the writers live. But I expect there will be some leeway; Saturday morning is when I will be posting the master-list post, but as long as people report in by, say, early Saturday afternoon, my time, it'll be fine.

If all goes well, I will likely be able to get it all posted by Saturday-- I've been posting as I go. However, my work schedule and a RL appointment will make things tighter than usual this week. Should I go ahead and ask for a grace week, just in case, or should I wait until Friday when I know for certain if I will make it?

What I suggest you do is tell me, on Friday, how far you've gotten, including the appropriate URLs, and I'll set your status to "partial" or "complete" depending on how you've gone, and you can use the grace week if you need it, instead of worrying about it now.

I'm definitely not going to be done by the deadline, but I am working on the story regularly. The good news is the finishathon has helped me break through my writer's block!!
