I had several false starts on mine that slowed me down considerably (it was a problem of starting the fic from the wrong POV/wrong scene) but now that I've figured out that issue and stopped trying to make it be something it's not, I'm... *knocks on wood* chugging along pretty good so far.

(I also had problems with being MASSIVELY INTIMIDATED at trying to write HP fic. Most of my fav. authors do HP fic and I am so convinced I do not measure up, haha.)

Minor question: my fic so far looks like it's wavering between teen and mature in rating. I haven't figured out quite where it's going to fall yet for sure but is it a horrible, horrible thing if our winning idea says teen and it winds up being mature as a rating instead?

No, of course it isn't a horrible horrible thing if the winning idea turns out to be somewhat different from what you thought. It's your story after all. The important thing is that you be true to what the story itself wants to be - and that you finish it. 8-)

I picked "haven't started" in the poll, but that's not entirely true. I have massive notes and a hefty outline, but I haven't started writing actual chapter words yet. Even so, notes and an outline don't count if I don't get to 7,000 words by the deadline, so I most definitely have to Get A Move On. :-D

I had some other short pieces I had to work on for some other challenges, and while they put off my working on my Finish-a-thon WIP until recently, I am totally in writing mode now, so that's going to help me. Also, deadlines are very motivating for me, so I expect to get that move on in the time that remains. ;-)

I don't think I'm going to finish mine. I have an unexpected boarder (young relative who got a job in Auckland and hasn't got any accommodation yet--and she's picky) which means I have to cook proper meals and spend some time entertaining her each night. Plus I was away for half of last weekend.

How many words do I have to write? I suspect it's 5000 and I'll never manage that in time. I'm stressed thinking about it and this is supposed to be fun.

So I'll have to bow out. :-(

There isn't a set number of words; you just have to finish the story. There's only a set number of words if one declared the bunny to be an Epic beforehand, which you didn't. So if you can wrap it up in a smaller amount of words, go for it!

OK, that'll make it a lot easier. I'll try; I may have some time this weekend.

I've never defaulted on a challenge and I'd hate to start now. :-P
