It's Not Exactly The Finish-a-Thon Master List, But It's Close Enough for Now.
I've received word via
watervole and
kalypso_v that
kerravonsen, your finish-a-thon mod, has suffered a major computer meltdown and is going to be offline for a while. The finish-a-thon must go on, however, and she's asked me to stop in here and ask people to please post their stories.
Now, bearing in mind that I have absolutely no moderatorly authority whatsoever (and thus can't do anything official, such answer any of your ficathon-related questions or grant you an extension because your dog died), I'm happy to collect story links right here until she gets back. Just leave 'em in the comments to this post.
I'm looking forward to reading what everybody's come up with! And here's hoping
kerravonsen is back with us soon.
[ETA: The official master list can now be found here.]

There are *exceptions* which means that you are let off the hook entirely without censure, provided you have a better excuse for not doing it other than 'couldn't be arsed' and are polite enough to give an explanation.

I'm wondering whether I should post a list of links, by the way, or just let people find them here in the comments. I'm leaning towards the latter... I'm not sure exactly when

My Entry!
Author:
Word Count: 4392
Characters/pairing: Harry Potter, OCs (others come later)
Rating:PG
Warnings: Mention of drug use/addiction.
Written For: The Multifandom Finish-A-Thon!
A/N:Okay, the plot bunny that you all voted for me to do is this one, but I knew the moment I started writing that it wants to be a whole novel and not a simple little fic. So what I present here for the Finish-A-Thon is, paradoxically, a start, Chapter One of what will be a novel when it is done. I know the Finish-A-Thon goal was to get 10,000 words done, but I am only posting the first 4400 or so, because it breaks very cleanly at one chapter here, and the next chapter gets quite hairy--and I am not cruel enough to leave you all at a cliffhanger for three months! (P.S. It needs severe Brit-picking, especially as regards the legal system...)

Fandom: Blakes 7/Babylon 5 crossover
Description: Having withdrawn from the B5 universe, the Shadows and the Vorlons find a universe where, as evidenced on an artificial world called Terminal, the evolution of sentient life is grinding to a halt. Obviously, their services are needed. The Vorlons decide to nurture and guide the galaxy's greatest force for order - the Terran Federation. Meanwhile, on Gauda Prime, the Shadows ask the question "What do you want?" to a desperate man named Kerr Avon.
Rating: m/m not explicit; PG-13

Fandom: Original fiction
Status: WIP
Word goal: 10,000
Word count: 16,397
I've listed this as a WIP simply because this was planned as a full length novel from the get-go. One day I hope to actually complete the beast without it undergoing yet more radical changes.

Description: The CSI team are witches/wizards, part of a new branch of the Aurors who are trained in dealing with magical trace elements, spell identification, etc. Now they've been assigned to investigate the scene of the battle in the department of Mysteries, to determine the exact charges against the captured Death Eaters, the culpability of any of the vigilantes who fought them, and to confirm or deny the presence of Sirius Black during the battle and his role in it.
Type: gen, though I reserve the right to hint at 'ships. Avatar fic, of a sort.
Rating: PG
WIP, unfortunately. The amount of backstory work I had to do (plus other RL things and sheer laziness) kept me from finishing this.
Find a teaser here, though: What Is Truth? (http://izhilzha.livejournal.com/130955.html?mode=reply)

I should have pulled out of the finishathon as soon as I realised we were moving again, but I held out vain hope even to today that I would be able to finish in time. The story is half written, and will one day be posted on my journal, but not, I think, before we move, which could be any day between now and March.
Again, I apologise to
Best wishes to everyone else for their stories.

(Good luck with the house, btw. I just bought one myself about a year ago, and I know what a hassle it can be under the best of circumstances.)

Fandom: Power Rangers Dino Thunder
Rating: 8+ (PG)
Summary: Anton Mercer and his son have dinner, discuss their lives, and deal (or not deal) with things.
The version that's currently up is the unbeta'd (but complete) version because I had some RL problems at the last moment. As soon as I have time to correct it (sometime in the next 24-48 hours), I'll post a note to that effect.

1) I wrote and it was awful. I don't want the two thousand words I wrote to touch my own eyes, much less anyone else's.
2) Apparently my Buffy muse has fled and won't come back, no matter how much I beg her to. The voices just don't sound right to me.
3) The lamest and truest excuse I offer is that I suck. I just plain suck. I'm sorry, and desperately wish I had a dead dog to trot out (which would be appropriate this close to Halloween), but I don't. My main reason for not finishing the Finishathon is that I suck.
I feel badly that I didn't fulfil my part of the bargain after the mods did such a terrific job of setting it all up, but I figure they were working to solicit good fic, which my offering certainly is not. Ah well, I've learned not to do this again. :(

I hope to take advantage of the Finish-A-Thon's allowance to finish the story with a week's grace period so long as some of the story is posted by the deadline. Please let me know if, for some reason, posting now doesn't fulfill that proviso.
Here is the link to the part posted so far.

At any rate, what I already have up is here, at a community dedicated for the purpose:
The index post is here.
As of this moment, the story stands at 19,400 words; it was 14,300 when I submitted the story to the finishathon, so that's about 5,100 words of my 10,000-word committment. I should have the rest of that up some time tonight or tomorrow, and I'll comment again when I get that far.

The story will still quite definitely remain a WIP even after Chapter 10 goes up; I'm thinking I may end up NaNo'ing it too, as the more I explore Mal's POV and River's role in a post-Chosen universe, the deeper the story goes, not like last year's straightforward adventure.
(Which, it just occured to me. That makes two years in a row I've written crossover stories without using any crossover characters for the finishathon. Heh).

The story is not really at a place where it would be satisfying for people to read.
Sorry :(

Sigh. And someday I'll actually get Annie Chapman all dead and everything.
At long last, Jack the Ripper! Well...a bit.
