Because only 4,500 of this is new material. However, only the folks on my mailing list have seen the rest of it.

I apologize to those on the mailing list for making less than a third of the word count I'd hoped to reach; home renovations have rendered my house basically unusable for three weeks now, and preparing for said renovations consumed three weeks before that.

Here are 36,500 words of Only Human, Chapter 4 (http://www.alara.net/trek/human4.html). For those of you *not* on the mailing list, happy reading! I've been working on this chapter for like five years now or something. I was hoping the finishathon would push me to get to the good stuff, but sadly real life conspires against me. For those of you on the mailing list, I hope you are at least pleased to get two new scenes.

And yes, I am ending it at a nasty, nasty place.

Total incompetence here - I hadn't realized the deadline was so close. This story is next on my docket (I'm finishing up a Katrina auction story right now), but I'm not going to be done for another month because there's some episode viewing I have to do and background material to read and I work really slowly.

If I can still post the resulting story here, I'd love to. (Yes, I know - go read the rules, Helen...)

Just wanted to say, Thank you for pushing me to participate. I don't have anything that's really postable at this point, but I've got a very detailed outline, one finished scene, and part of two others. I'm excited because in the back of my mind I know I thought I'd probably never get around to writing this story, and now I know that I will. So from my POV, the finishathon is a success for me.

I honestly thought the stories were due today; I have a new job and have had a houseguest all week until this morning, so I've been busy. I do have a draft done, but at this point I'd like to take a bit longer and get it betaed. (Even if it means I can't play next year.)

Hey there! I've been working on my fic every available moment I've had. I'm halfway through it, though, but I intend to finish. I'm going to give the first two parts a second read through, then post them asap. I just wanted to let you know where I stood, and to thank you for giving me this second chance.
