kerravonsen: Jenny: all things new (all-things-new)
[personal profile] kerravonsen posting in [community profile] multific
Stories are now due!

No, don't worry, they aren't due yet! You still have a couple of days. But since I've had a few people already tell me their status, I figured it was a reasonable thing to post the master-post early, so early-birds could get their worm.

Stories are due on the 27th. It will be later than 10am Australian Eastern Standard Time, because I am going to be sitting in a doctor's waiting room at 10am...

If you have finished
Make a comment here, saying "finished", and the URL where the story is.

If you have a partially complete story
Make a comment here, saying "partial", and the URL where the partial story or 1000-word extract is.

If you have nothing to post
Make a comment here, saying "tried", and some explanation as to why you did not succeed.

I am using the awesome power of the finish-a-thon wiki to present the story-finished results in a neat manner, in the Author Status Page. This page will be updated periodically as the information comes in.

Note that there are authors who have indicated to me that they will have something posted by the deadline; I have put them under "tried" until I actually have a URL in my hot little hands.

Here is the link to the story: Five Voices (http://storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=6250).

I had two fandom archives that I maintain going down/having sudden bug issues and so on for most of this month which cost me my free me-time, but I am writing as fast as I can to complete this.

There's a chance of me writing a funny deleted scene someday that tells what happened after Donna went to help the Doctor with the pie in the bathroom, since people on my friends list asked for it.

Will be honest, I tried; however, I also restarted school which completely killed my brain. That and no matter how hard I tried to write the chapter I was stuck on, I couldn't get past the original thoughts I had on it which wouldn't work at all.

Sorry

It is unlikely I will have my story *complete* by tomorrow afternoon, although you never know -- I had work issues, which pushed out the time I needed to work on other ficathon stories until I had only about two weeks left to do this, and then a disaster last Saturday where I copied the file in the wrong direction and destroyed a full day's work set me back. But I have 5.5 K of the story done, which I had originally estimated to take 13K in full, so I will have a partial posted tomorrow (I believe the deadline's something like 5 pm my time) of however much I have done by that time, and I'll have either 13K or the whole thing, whichever comes first, done by the end of the week.

Partial

I blame exams, garden-variety laziness, and the fact that I, er, got so into planning and researching the story that I forgot to actually, you know, start writing it. I have gotten to read lots of awesome stuff about zombies, Victorian London, etc., though. (For example, this article (http://books.google.com/books?id=4tcDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA738) on defending oneself with a stick or umbrella.)

Here's the first chapter: The London Revenants, or, "Phileas Fogg versus the Zombies" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5066934/1/The_London_Revenants)

I won't be posting a finished story, though if you want I suppose I could do an exerpt. The problem wasn't finishing it; I could have done so. The problem was, it wasn't going right. One of the characters was taking over the story and turning into a Mary Sue. So while I could have finished a story, it wouldn't be the story I wanted to tell nor a story I want to put out there with my name on it. Re-writing and rearranging things so that the whole thing works would take longer than there is time for, unfortunately. I don't know how long--this has thrown me back into the "needs to percolate" stage, unfortunately. I thought I was out of that stage for this story, or I'd never have volunteered it. I'm really sorry about this.

I tried. I just can't prod this thing into something I'd be able to post and not cringe at. It's pretty much done, baring a the last section, I just kinda hate it. A lot. It's not something I'm in any way proud of. I'm sorry.

CSI: Impossible (http://community.livejournal.com/csi_impossible/1189.html)

37,570 words later (40,070 total for the fic) I have a finished story. *dies* A very rough finished story that needs to be SPAG beta-ed and medical beta-ed, but finished nonetheless. I've posted a partial because I'm super-excited that I not only made my proposed word count (10k) but also finished the darned thing. Now just to finish the companion piece that started demanding to be written half way through this one.

I tried; I did get a few thousand words written before a combination of writer's block and work drove me to a halting stop. However, they aren't beta'd and I'm not sure if they're really fit to be read.

I am not going to get a better breaking point than this, so:

Judgement Day 13: Churchill's Black Dog (http://alara-works.livejournal.com/21219.html), partial

I had originally estimated that this story would take 13K. At 9.5K I can plainly see that was a pipe dream. It will be much longer than that. So I can commit to finishing my originally planned 13K by the end of the week, but can't actually commit to finishing the story by then because I don't know how long it will be; I can at least promise, however, that aside from the ficathon stories I've committed to in June, this will be the only fic I work on until it's done.

Finished. Sort of.

I've stuck my as yet untitled Amber fic in a temporary home on a journal for a defunct role playing game. My website should be back in a few weeks, and I'll post it there then.

http://hemiketal-yoji.livejournal.com/13984.html

I'm afraid it's still a rough draft. It's a completed draft, but it hasn't been beta'd and badly needs a rewrite or two.

Partial. Link forthcoming (tonight or tomorrow) as I'm just about to head off to the airport.

(Somehow I missed this post -- I am confused as to how. Didn't see it until I saw the blacklist post twice and wanted to see if I had a reply to my comment on that.)
