Finish-a-thon 2010 Sign Ups!

Yes, after months of delay, the sign-ups are here at last.

Announcing... finish-a-thon 2010! Yes, we're doing it again.

Remember all those poor, neglected plot bunnies that have been starving from lack of attention, because all those ficathons kept on having higher priority? The stories you wish you could finish, if only you could find the time? Well, fear not, the finish-a-thon is coming to the rescue!

The finish-a-thon is a ficathon, with all the ficathon-like things like deadlines and fellow volunteers to encourage you, but with this ficathon, you write your own ideas. But since part of the encouragement of a ficathon is writing things for other people, what we're going to do, is vote for which story ideas people should write.

I have set up a website to facilitate the ficathon, including a handy-dandy sign-up form which should make entering all the information easier. This system is slightly different to how it was done last year (while I'm using a wiki again, I'm using a different wiki).

Note that you can edit your sign-up information as much as you want until the sign-up deadline, at which point editing will be disabled.

Umm...OK, I feel like a real dummy. I read the sign-up FAQs and went to them, but it keeps rejecting my name and password. What am I doing wrong?

Well, if you're giving a password, then you've taken a wrong turn somewhere...

Did you click on the LiveJournal icon? That's the one that looks like a pencil. It should then ask you for your LJ ID, which in your case is "dreamflower02".

Try again, writing down every single step you take. I can't help until I know exactly what you've done.

2. I entered my LJ username, dreamflower02. I clicked "edit"

3. That took me here:

4. I'm not seeing any little pencil icon anywhere on the page. Do I need to change my view or something? I followed the directions and put in my LJ name an password, but it didn't work.

Did the instructions say anywhere that you need to give your password? Because if they do, I need to correct them. Please point out where the error is, please, please, please!

What it looks like is that somehow, you have already successfully logged in, since the log-in page did not appear.

Note that on the sign-up page (http://www.katspace.org/fiction/ficathons/finish-a-thon/2010/sign_up/) you should give your name or pseud, not your LJ username. That comes later.

Hmm...I generally use my LJ name as my pseud. But I tried it with just dreamflower instead of dreamflower02. It still took me to a page that wanted me to sign in. I tried to take a screencap of the page but it won't let me paste it.

So: It's a purple page. At the very top left hand side it says Katspace > sign in.
Below that it says Katspace and below that is a menu, which has several options in boxes, beginning with Home and ending with Zines

Below that it says Select your account provider (but there is no place there to select from)
Below that it says Enter your Open ID and there is a box there.
Then a little below that is Name, with a box
Below that, Password, with a box
Below that, buttons that say Login, Register, Reset Password

Below that a darker purple bar that says Last Edited.

You should be seeing various icons underneath that, including the LJ (pencil) icon. Have you got images turned off?

Below that it says Enter your Open ID and there is a box there.
If you can't find the LJ icon, then use the OpenID box, and put the following into it:

Then click the button that is next to THAT box.

You should then be taken to LJ, where it will ask you to confirm the ID. Things should follow on as expected from there on.

Okay -- I just signed up, because I need major help finishing my long unfinished fics! :-D Hope I did everything right on the form...

ETA: I wasn't sure if I was to add URLs or not...?

Just one little mistake: in the "LJ Name" field, it needs your LJ username, not "Linaewen's White Tower". Fortunately, you can correct that yourself, by editing your author page.

Edit: Only add URLs if you want people to look at your stories in order to figure out which one to vote for.

I have a question. When I went in to edit--adding in a 5th prompt--I think it might have messed up somewhere. The sign up name I used was calliopes_pen, same as my journal name. I don't know what went wrong, but now there's a calliopes_pen and a calliopes_pen2. What should I do?
