Can't say I'm surprised that the Firefly (Shepherd Book) story won out in my polls...can't say I'm sorry, either. :-)

Though many thanks to all who voted in the other catagories as well. I'm still amused that the CSI/HP story was such a close runner-up! Maybe I should move that one up in my person queue to-finish.

Date: 2005-12-02 09:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] izhilzha.livejournal.com
I do see your point. Unfortunately, the fun of this story will be in watching the wizarding world through a slightly different perspective. As I said, it's more avatar fic than a straight xover, since Grissom's team must be witches/wizards.

But since they're investigating a canon battle, you might like it anyway.

I was interested in both the CSI/HP and the CSI/Lost stories, but we could only vote for one. :(

Write zem all!

From: [identity profile] izhilzha.livejournal.com
Aww. Well, I may yet write the LOST/CSI...it still tugs at me, and that's a good sign.

Maybe you'd like to help me finish transposing our CSI team's backgrounds into the wizarding world? :-D That would help ensure that I actually write that one....

Date: 2005-12-04 08:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mistraltoes.livejournal.com
Well, I'm not sure I understand what's involved, but if you want to bounce ideas off somebody, or even just have a cheering section, sure.

Date: 2005-12-05 05:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] izhilzha.livejournal.com
*snerk* Well, since having the CSI team actually be in the magical world they'd need to be witches/wizards, the way I've been approaching it is like an avatar fic (sort of). So I've been trying to figure out what the characters' backgrounds (schooling, family, etc) are like in those circumstances--with the goal of knowing that they basically come out the same people we know from the show, just wizards rather than Muggles and not working in Vegas. [it's very tempting to make Catherine be Lucius Malfoy's illegitimate half sister, but I'm resisting.]

I was completely flummoxed when I realized that "Jenna Stannis, Private Investigator" was going to win. I figured it was too silly for anyone to vote for. :) I'm perfectly willing to write it, I'm just surprised.

Hee. Thanks, though I might not have offered it if I'd known you were about to do one. ;-) Which I haven't had the energy to read yet, but I'm sure is good. Anyway, I'm sure they'll be nothing alike.

Date: 2005-12-02 10:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com
Exactly. No one would approach it the same way, I'm sure. I felt guilty about doing it because I knew you wanted to do one, but it was one of the three which attracted me at the time and this was my chance to do the other two in a shorter format.

Date: 2005-12-03 04:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mistraltoes.livejournal.com
Well, I'm sorry you felt guilty, but perversely glad that you cared how I'd feel. ;-) Anyway, it wasn't a problem. Writing as slowly as I do, I'm quite used to re-using ideas that other people have gotten to first. That just forces me to be more creative.

From: [identity profile] mistraltoes.livejournal.com
Well, it's certainly not a drawback to the person who does have to write it. I come from a long line of very silly folk. Well, if you consider my dad a long line... hee. Mind you, though, silly and funny are not always the same thing; I'm only concerned that those who voted for it might be expecting it to be funny. Silly is easy, funny is hard.

Several people "voted" in my journal, in the comments, a few days ago, but apparently couldn't figure out that they were supposed to come over here and do it. :-)

The results were:

2 extra for Body Snatcher
1 extra for Seventeen Things
1 extra that might go to either Working In Groups or Burning Time

So Body Snatcher wins.

If I finish my 15,000 words early (yeah, right), I will go down the list to the next one. The order of fics seems to have come in:

Body Snatcher
Seventeen Things
Only Human
Working In Groups
everything after that got 3 or fewer votes
