kerravonsen: Second Doctor about to type in the Land of Fiction: "Fanfic: everyone does it" (Doc2-fanfic)
[personal profile] kerravonsen
Okay, I've decided that, yes, I will run a gen "remix" ficathon, and I've even started a community, [livejournal.com profile] gen_remix. I've been working on writing up rules for it. I've decided to go for the "no pairings" definition of "gen" for the purposes of the ficathon. Also, since most people seemed to either not want anonymity or didn't care about it, I'm not going to go the anonymity route.

However, I have a few more things I need feedback on.

There are a few different ways that stories could be posted.

a) people host their own stories; there is a master-post in the community where people comment to give the links to their stories
Advantages: easier to organize
Disadvantages: stories come in in dribs and drabs, no real central place hosting the stories

b) people post stories to the gen_remix community (or a sister community) with tags
Advantages: one place to look, comments on stories are easy
Disadvantages: stories come in in dribs and drabs, long stories need multiple posts

c) I host all the stories on my site (as I did for the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel); people email stories to me and I put them up, not revealing them until all the stories are in, and then putting "comment" posts up for people to give their comments on the stories.
Advantages: one place for stories, one "reveal"
Disadvantages: more work for me, more work to set up story comments

d) I set up my fiction site so that participants are given logins so that they can post their stories there themselves.
Advantages: one place for stories
Disadvantages: stories are not hidden, more work to set up story comments, users need to learn how to use the system

e) I set up my fiction site so that helpers are given logins, so that they can help put up stories there and reduce my workload.
Advantages: one place for stories, one "reveal"
Disadvantages: more work to set up story comments, helpers need to learn how to use the system, there may not be any volunteers to help anyway

Which do you think would be better? Other suggestions?

Yes, now I officially declare the 2007 Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel archive to be open!

Stories by universe
Stories by recipient

Despite forgettings, timezone differences and computer troubles, here we are. Now go forth, read, and comment!
You may have noticed I've made separate posts here for each story, so each story can have its own set of comments by folks.
(no, I'm not going to link to all those posts here, they're linked to from the stories themselves.)

Okay folks, I have all the stories now... but I can't open the archive yet because my mother's just arrived and she's staying for lunch (and I'm not sure for how long after that) so RL triumphs again.

My intent is to post a post-for-comments here for every single story (there are twelve) so that comments for a story get their own post (unlike last time, where there was one post for all comments and we got thread-collapse), so it will take a little while for it all to be done.

One more story, I am waiting for just one more story to arrive before the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel archive can be declared open.

The archive for the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel isn't yet open because I'm still waiting for two stories.

Well, since
[livejournal.com profile] annieb1955
[livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup
[livejournal.com profile] maevebran

seem to have been lost at sea, I am calling for pinch-hitters to write lyric wheel stories very fast. Pipe up if you can write:
- Stargate (SG-1 or Atlantis)
- Buffy (or Angel)
- Firefly
- New Who

ETA: I have three volunteers, yay! Thanks y'all.

Yo folks!
The deadline has passed. I am still waiting to hear from:

[livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup

C'mon people, this is pathetic! That's half of you! Get a move on!

Don't forget! Stories are due on Friday.

It's okay if you post your stories to me early, a few people already have.
And if you don't think you will be finished in time, let me know NOW, so I can ask pinch-hitters to pinch-hit.
