Finish-a-thon 2009 Post of Squee

One thing I am missing about this year's sign-ups is the squee that people would do when they saw what people have signed up with. So, in the name of "Take Back The Glee" Year, I hereby open the Post of Squee.

I'm a little sorry not to be participating this year, although the finish-a-thon still gets credit for spurring me to write something I might not have otherwise gotten around to. But I am pleased to see that so many people have signed up again this year. Not to mention the fact that, wow, there's a real diversity of fandoms represented there!

Jane Kirk's Enterprise is a genderswap of Kirk and Spock. The story in the URL introduces Jane Kirk; the next story planned, the one I am pledging, would be "Vulcan Sands", introducing the genderswapped Spock and getting her back from Vulcan into space.

The Queen played with everyone's memories to give D.G. a fighting chance when she came back--names and details of the Queen's rule forgotten, histories buried, clues scattered--but now that the Sorceress has been vanquished, the Queen's meddling hasn't stopped. D.G.'s the one on the receiving end, now.

Oooh, now this could be veery interesting! The Queen isn't the nice, helpless person she seemed, eh?

Yrcanos? Now there's a character who doesn't get much airtime. (Makes note to read first story)

This story tries to make sense of the Archangel arc by setting it in Diane Duane's "Young Wizards" universe, where young people are chosen to become wizards and battle the Lone Power who invented Death. Richie is a new wizard on Ordeal, Joe is an Advisory wizard, Mac's an Abdal (whether he realizes it or not,) Methos is sick and tired of the Lone Power thinking he's _special_, and some very important Choices get made (and unmade, and delayed.)

Oh, now, that could be really cool!

"You Can Share Mine.” Alan and Margaret Eppes often take their 3 year old son Don with them on peace marches. At one of them, the Eppes wind up marching next to Naomi Sandburg and little Blair. The boys hit it off, and Don offers to share his daddy with Blair, who doesn’t have one. Then Alan gets arrested, and Blair uses his mighty 5-yr-old wisdom to comfort Don, who is terrified that he’s not going to have a daddy either. Told from young Don’s POV.

I wish I knew more about Highlander, because any thoughtful crossover makes me happy, and anyone actually trying to cross stuff into the YW 'verse makes me doubly so.
