Finish-a-thon 2009 Post of Squee
Mar. 18th, 2009 09:52 amOne thing I am missing about this year's sign-ups is the squee that people would do when they saw what people have signed up with. So, in the name of "Take Back The Glee" Year, I hereby open the Post of Squee.
Take a look (and come back to) the Full Author List, and post here about the story ideas that you are squeeful about.
ETA2: I have added links back to this post, so you can click on a link at the individual author page and it will post it here! (I love it when a plan comes together)

Sequel to Thrown Away (http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=10272) Jack, Peri and Yrcanos are headed for Earth, but the Time Agency is in hot pursuit. There's also the matter of the man with the pool. Who is he and what is his connection to Jack and Peri?
Yrcanos? Now there's a character who doesn't get much airtime. (Makes note to read first story)

Forever Tomorrow: http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=18032
Three, Martha, Jack, and Benton all running around the English countryside trying to rescue Dolby!Ten from the Master(s). It takes place immediately after Last of the Timelords.
Dolby!Ten?
Anyway, yay for Three, Martha, Jack and Benton!
3. Fandom: Doctor Who
Now it still murmurs: http://clocketpatch.livejournal.com/8366.html#cutid1
Seven, Ace, and Hex running about the jungles of the Yucatan, getting involved in archaeological shananigins, odd temporal disturbances, and slightly shippy tendencies (Hex/Ace).
I really must get back to my Big Finish listening.
4. Fandom: Doctor Who
Donna and Andred are just settling down, but will the Doctor spoil their fun? This is the JE fix-it that I never got around to finishing. In this series: http://www.whofic.com/series.php?seriesid=1883
Oh! (Makes note must go off to read)
5. Fandom: Doctor Who/Chronicles of Narnia
Not actually started. Inspired on the BBC adaption of the Silver Chair: so, it turns out that Puddleglum is actually a Time Lord in disguise.
Why hasn't anyone done this before? I mean, it's an idea crying out to be done.

3. A somewhat dark exploration of Frodo's arrival in Rivendell following his wounding at Weathertop.
Okay, I get the impression that this author likes beating up on Frodo... ;-)

Shouldn't this actually be "Batman Beyond"?
Gray Cardinal
Date: 2009-03-18 09:35 am (UTC)STORY: During the period when Spike is more or less babysitting Dawn, she asks him to read "Mary Poppins" to her; he refuses, and thereby hangs a tale. It seems there was a family connection between Quentin Travers of the Watchers' Council and P. L. Travers, author of the Poppins books -- and that Spike once crossed paths with one Marie Poppins, who was (a) a good deal more dangerous than her literary self, and (b) as much a thorn in the Council's side as she was in Spike's.
Oooh, now this sounds interesting; a Buffyverse take on Mary Poppins is likely to take away all the sugar and leave the spice.

"The London Revenants, or, Phileas Fogg versus the Zombies." Just when Jean Passepartout believes he has finally found stability, the occupants of 7 Savile Row find themselves surrounded by flesh-hungry undead Londoners.
There really should be a lot more Phileas Fogg fic out there! I've always loved Around the World in Eighty Days and loved it even more after reading Philip Jose Farmer's own published fanfic, The Other Log of Phileas Fogg, so this sounds like amazing fun!
Vana Tuivana
Fourth Age, possibly AU depending on how you look at it. The Elves are departing. Gildor Inglorion, last King of the Noldor, is lonely; the River-woman is there.
Gildor/Goldberry's mum? That sounds too delicious for words! Imagine having a fling with Tom Bombadil's mother-in-law!
Thette

Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Mary Poppins
that Spike once crossed paths with one Marie Poppins, who was (a) a good deal more dangerous than her literary self, and (b) as much a thorn in the Council's side as she was in Spike's.
Wow! Now *that's* a plot-bunny dying to be told!
CalliopesPen
Doctor Who/Highlander
Martha turns out to be Pre-Immortal.
Of course she is! It makes perfect sense!
Rhapsody the Bard
Five voices (working title). This is a response to the Lort Gen fic challenge with the theme of "Young and Old", in which you should have two characters interacting: one young and one old. There should be at least one generation between the two characters, who may be of any race or era of Middle-earth. This story is also a personal fic request of Dreamflower: LotR--which Elves left with Sam? What did they think of him?
Please cover your ears: *SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!* Oh, I do hope that this one gets picked!!!

Doctor Who/Chronicles of Narnia
Not actually started. Inspired on the BBC adaption of the Silver Chair: so, it turns out that Puddleglum is actually a Time Lord in disguise
And another "AHA! Why didn't *I* think of that?" idea! It seems perfectly clear to me that it had to be...
Febobe
"Starved" - Post-Quest, Frodo (and Sam) have trouble readjusting to life - and eating - as usual. Deals with the psychological and emotional consequences of starvation.
*grin* I really love this idea, as it includes Sam as well as Frodo, and I look forward to lots of lovingly described invalid trays!
melannen
In this story, Methos gets knocked out and wakes up in a strange land...
I can so totally see Methos as Dorothy! And I love Amanda the Occasionally Unethical.
Dr. Who / Lord Peter Wimsey
The story that started out as "The Dowager Duchess of Denver meets the DoctorDonna" and turned into "Jack Harkness picks on somebody his own age for once"
This is such a cool idea! The DD is one of my favorite Sayers' characters! And I can just imagine Donna's reaction at meeting her!
Leia Naberrie
Luke rescues a young runaway from Jabba's Palace and brings her home to the Lars' farmstead. No good deed goes unpunished.
It's the last sentence that gets me--I love stories in which all the best intentions in the world go astray!
Becca Stareyes
A parody of epic poetry (in which I'll attempt to do it in iambic pentameter blank verse) in which Anoia, the Disc's Goddess of Things that Get Stuck in Drawers, and Bilious, the Oh, God of Hangovers, attempt to pay the Gods' water bill before the Disc's oceans run out.
This idea sounds so very Prachett-esque, I can imagine him coming up with it himself!
Kathryn Andersen
Doctor Who/Buffy
in which Buffy and the Doctor have adventures and stuff.
I read the first story a few weeks ago! I'm delighted to see a sequel is planned!

considering how little of Hex I've actually heard I am head-over-heels in love with him. Any increase of Hex fic on the web is a GOOD thing. *nods*
