Finish-a-thon 2011 Sign Ups!
Apr. 2nd, 2011 07:09 pmSign-ups are CLOSED!
I had intended to open the sign-ups two weeks ago, but I've been distracted by my involvement with the
au_bigbang. Because it's taken me all day to fix things up, I've extended the intended sign-up time to a bit under two weeks rather than under a week.
Announcing... finish-a-thon 2011! Yes, we're doing it again.
Remember all those poor, neglected plot bunnies that have been starving from lack of attention, because all those ficathons kept on having higher priority? The stories you wish you could finish, if only you could find the time? Well, fear not, the finish-a-thon is coming to the rescue!
The finish-a-thon is a ficathon, with all the ficathon-like things like deadlines and fellow volunteers to encourage you, but with this ficathon, you write your own ideas. But since part of the encouragement of a ficathon is writing things for other people, what we're going to do, is vote for which story ideas people should write.
I have set up a website to facilitate the ficathon, including a handy-dandy sign-up form which should make entering all the information easier.
PLEASE let me know if you have any problems.
Dates
Sign-ups end:
Australia : Saturday 16th April 2011, 8am
Rest of World (GMT) : 15th April 2011, 10pm
Stories due:
Australia : 25th June 2011, 10am
Rest of World (GMT) : 24th June 2011, midnight
(more detailed date information is in the Rules and FAQ page)
Note that you can edit your sign-up information as much as you want until the sign-up deadline, at which point editing will be disabled.

So, the results of this poll are such that I will probably be running the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel in June-July.
I will be using the AO3 ficathon engine for it, so anyone who wishes to participate will need to join that site: (http://archiveofourown.org/). I have an invite going spare, and I could probably get more if need be. Please let me know if you need one. There needs to be a minimum of ten people signing up to make this ficathon viable.
I have also revised the FAQ: please give feedback!

Lyric Wheel, Anyone?
Dec. 19th, 2010 02:38 pmWith all this messing around with the facilities at AO3, I have a hankering to use their setup to run the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel again, next year.
I'm intending for the Finish-a-thon to run mid-March to the end of May, and I also want to participate in the tthdrabbles Birthday Fest in February-March, and if that's the case, there's only a few different slots available to run a Lyric Wheel in, so I thought I'd ask y'all what you would prefer.

AO3 Collections!
Dec. 15th, 2010 09:22 pmI have created collections on http://archiveofourown.org/ for both the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel and for the Finish-a-thon. Each year has a separate sub-collection. PLEASE, if your fiction is on AO3, add the stories you did for these ficathons to the appropriate collections.
And if your fiction isn't on AO3, I do have an invitation to give away.
And, yes, I am planning to run the Finish-a-thon again next year. Hopefully in March-April.

Aug. 9th, 2010 08:21 amThere's less than a week to go, peoples! So I thought I'd ask again.

Finish-a-thon 2010 Voting Closed
Jun. 19th, 2010 12:26 pmPolls are all closed! Results are on the website. See the full Author Listing to see everyone's results, or go to the individual author pages to see just a particular author's results.
We had two ties! If you have a tie, you don't have to work on both of them, just pick one of them to work on. Mind you, you could work on both of them if you really wanted to.
Let the fic-writing begin!
